Church By The Woods

The Church By The Woods originated in the 1800s as the Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in downtown Sharonville at the corner of Reading Road and Walnut Street  In 1980, we moved to 3755 Cornell Road and more recently have changed our name to "Church By The Woods."  While we are a small congregation, we are a busy one, and a community of faith that supports all of God's efforts to maintain His presence in Sharonville.  In fact, we house three different congregations under our roof, and we share a close and loving relationship with our affiliated Cincinnati Taiwanese Presbyterian Ministry.

More About our history

The Church was organized on July 2, 1836.  It was pastored by Rev. Graves, who also pastored the Presbyterian Church in Reading. At the time Sharonville was known as "Sharon".  A small group of progressive Presbyterians known as the "new school" Presbyterians, met on May 8, 1841 to form the "Sharon Cumberland Presbyterian Church".  In 1906, the Sharon Presbyterian Church merged with the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. 

 Church By The Woods is a part of this denomination.

 On July 22, 1960, the church purchased a 5-acre plot on Cornell Road for future expansion.  The new church was built on that site in 1979, and formally dedicated in October, 1980.  

In 2007, a generous benefactor paid the remaining mortgage on the building, affirming our belief that our presence in Sharonville is real, relevant, vital, and an act of God.
